How to send a 100 GB file online

To send a 100 GB file, upload it to a transfer service that accepts that much in one go and share the link. Transfr’s free plan goes up to exactly 100 GB per transfer, without an account, and Transfr Pro removes the limit for anything bigger.

  • 100 GB free, in one transfer
  • No size limit with Pro
  • Resumable, parallel upload

Can you really send 100 GB for free?

Yes, on Transfr. The free plan’s limit is 100 GB per transfer, and it is not a trial: no account, no card, no monthly quota. As of October 2026, it is the largest fixed free limit per transfer among the services we compared, ahead of SwissTransfer (50 GB), TransferNow Free (5 GB) and WeTransfer Free (3 GB). Smash Free sets no fixed limit but places free transfers over 2 GB in a queue.

For sizes beyond 100 GB, every service charges. Here is what paid plans allow per transfer, as published by each provider in October 2026.

How to send 100 GB with Transfr

  1. Step 1

    Check the total

Select your files and check their combined size in your file manager. If it is just over 100 GB, split it into two transfers (for example, footage and audio) or use Pro.

  2. Step 2

Set up for a long upload

Charger in, cable if possible, computer set not to sleep, cloud sync paused.

  3. Step 3

    Drop everything on Transfr

Open Transfr and add the files or folders. They upload several at a time, in 64 MB parts, with automatic retries.

  4. Step 4

    Share once it is done

Copy the link or let Transfr email up to 10 recipients. Choose an expiry long enough for them to download: up to 7 days free, up to 60 with Pro.

If the upload is interrupted

Over several hours, something will happen: a router restart, a laptop lid closed, a browser update. Transfr is built for it. Each file travels in independent parts; a failed part is retried up to 12 times, and the whole upload pauses while you are offline. If the page is closed, open Transfr again and add the same files within six days: parts already received are skipped and the upload resumes.

How your recipient downloads 100 GB

The recipient can preview videos, photos and documents before downloading, then pick individual files or download everything as one ZIP, with folders kept. The ZIP is streamed straight to disk as it downloads, so nobody waits for a giant archive to be built first. Every file can also be downloaded on its own from the list, which is handy to grab the most urgent clip first. Remind them they need 100 GB of free disk space, and suggest a computer rather than a phone for a delivery this size.

When a hard drive is still the better option

With less than 20 Mbps of upload and a recipient a short drive away, handing over an SSD can be quicker. The same goes for several terabytes. Otherwise an upload wins on effort: no drive to buy, nothing to ship or lose, and a link you can send to several people at once. For mid-sized deliveries, see sending 50 GB for free and sending 10 GB.

Sending more than 100 GB regularly

Studios and agencies that move hundreds of gigabytes every week use Transfr Pro: no size limit per transfer, files available up to 60 days, download tracking to know when the client has the files, and their own branding on the download page. Pro also includes Transfr Teams for up to 10 people. See the pricing for details, or file sharing for agencies.
