What agencies need from file sharing
An agency sends a lot of heavy, client-facing files: campaign videos, print-ready PDFs, social packs in a dozen formats, design source files, photo selections. It also receives logos, brand guides, footage and copy from clients. The tool in the middle should do three things well: deliver anything without size worries, look like your agency rather than a third party, and let the account team see what happened after sending.
| Job | How it works | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver a campaign to the client | One link with every format, folders kept, previews in the browser | Free up to 100 GB, Pro unlimited |
| Get approval on a video or layout | Comments pinned to a video timestamp, an image area or a PDF page | Free |
| Collect assets from the client | File request link: they upload up to 100 GB, no account | Free |
| Look professional | Your logo, background image or video, subdomain or custom domain | Pro |
| Follow up at the right time | Send & Track: visits, downloads per file, location, view duration | Pro |
| Work as a team | Shared team space, roles, unified branding, team activity | Pro (up to 10 people) |
One team space, one brand
With Teams, included in Pro for up to 10 people, every member sends from a shared Team space while keeping a private personal space. Transfers and file requests in the team space are visible to the whole team, so anyone can pick up a client thread when a colleague is away, and the team activity view shows what went out this week. Admins invite people, choose their role and set the branding once: your logo, backgrounds and team subdomain appear on every download and request page your members share. Team defaults, such as the usual expiry, apply automatically when members send from the team space. See Transfr for teams.
How an agency delivers a campaign
Step 1
Prepare one folder per deliverable set
For example /Video (16x9, 9x16, 1x1), /Static, /Print, /Source. Folder structure is kept on the download page.
Step 2
Upload from the team space
Open transfr.me, switch to the team space and drop the folder. No size limit on Pro.
Step 3
Set the link
A readable custom link (agency.transfr.me or your domain), an expiry that matches the launch plan, and a password for embargoed work.
Step 4
Turn on comments for the review round
The client pins feedback on the exact frame, area or page. With a free account, you get an email for each comment.
Step 5
Follow with Send & Track
See when the client opened the page, which files they downloaded and how long they watched. Follow up when it is useful, not at random, and with the right file in mind.
Put your agency’s name on every delivery
Pro includes your branding, unlimited size and a team of 10.
Collecting assets from clients without the chase
Kick-off weeks are spent asking for logos in vector format, the latest brand book and the CEO’s headshot. Create a file request per client or per project, branded like your download pages on Pro, and share the link or its QR code. Clients upload without an account, up to 100 GB per submission, and the request’s creator is emailed when files arrive. Set a deadline and a submission cap if needed. Submitted files stay 7 days, so move them to your project storage. See receive large files.
Design and video files without conversion
- Design sources (PSD, AI, INDD packages, Figma exports) go as they are. See send Photoshop and design files.
- Video masters travel byte for byte, with an H.264 copy for browser review. See send video files to clients.
- Print PDFs can be previewed in the browser and commented page by page. See send a large PDF.
- Folders keep their tree, and the client downloads everything as one zip or file by file.
Security for client work under NDA
Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and stored in Western Europe by default, with the option to choose another region per transfer when a client is on another continent. For confidential launches, add a password and a download limit, or turn on end-to-end encryption, where the key lives in the link and is never stored on our servers. Accounts support two-factor authentication. Our secure file transfer guide and GDPR-compliant transfer article cover the policy side.
Clients in other countries
International accounts bring two practical issues: distance and language. For distance, pick the storage region closest to the client when you send (North America East or West, Western or Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, Oceania), so a 40 GB delivery to a New York or Sydney office downloads from nearby. For language, Transfr’s interface is available in 18 languages, which helps when the person downloading isn’t the English-speaking marketing lead you briefed. Your branding stays the same everywhere, and expiry dates are shown on the download page so local teams know their deadline.
Transfr next to your other tools
Transfr doesn’t replace your project management tool or your shared drive. Keep working files where your team edits them, and use Transfr for what leaves the agency: deliveries, review rounds and incoming client assets. That separation keeps internal folders private and gives clients a clean, branded page instead of a folder tree. If you compare options, see Google Drive vs a transfer service and WeTransfer alternatives.
A practical way to start: run one client delivery and one asset request through the free plan, then compare the back-and-forth with your usual email thread. When the team agrees, switch to Pro and invite colleagues to the shared space.
